Donald Trump Says He Passed No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Social Security Security, and No Tax on Overtime — He’s lying.

We’re going to keep this one simple:

You need to watch Congressman Tom Suozzi’s line of questioning with Tom Barthold, the Chief of Staff for the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation.

Because in under 1 minute, Suozzi exposes something Donald Trump is counting on Americans never finding out:

Trump’s latest boasts—about “no taxes on tips,” “no taxes on Social Security,” and “no taxes on overtime”—are complete and utter lies.

Let’s be clear about who Tom Barthold is. He’s not a Democratic operative. He’s not a cable news pundit. He’s the head of the expert team responsible for objectively “scoring” how tax proposals impact the federal budget. When Barthold talks, serious lawmakers—Democrats and Republicans—listen.

So when Suozzi pressed Barthold under oath, the facts came tumbling out:

✅ There is no legislative text, nor any formal Trump proposal, to eliminate taxes on tips.

✅ There is no serious proposal to wipe out taxes on Social Security benefits across the board—something that would cost hundreds of billions of dollars and mostly help wealthy retirees.

✅ And there is definitely no proposal in the works to eliminate taxes on overtime pay.

Trump is just making things up—again.

This matters. Because Trump is barnstorming the country selling snake oil, promising everyday workers he’ll “put money back in your pockets.” But he has no plan. Just as he had no plan when he slashed taxes for billionaires in 2017, exploding the deficit and leaving working families behind.

Suozzi deserves enormous credit for doing what Democrats need to do more of: Cut through Trump’s bluster with real facts. Calmly. Methodically. And publicly.

So watch the clip. Share it. Make sure your friends and family see it. Because Trump is counting on voters being too busy or too exhausted to check the receipts. Let’s prove him wrong.

At a time when democracy is under threat, we believe our best bet is to elect those who will stand up for our values—and fight for them with the truth.

We’ll never shy away from reporting the facts. Even the hard ones. And we’ll keep supporting Democrats who are willing to do the work.
