The money spent on the parade could have been used to host celebrations of the anniversary for serving members, their families and local reservists. Barbeque’s, petting zoos for kids, games, music….something that says enjoy as appreciation for their service and sacrifice as a family. Invite local Vets as well. It could have been a 1 time bonus for the members flat rate across all ranks to show the value of each and every service person. It could have been so many things to reward and celebrate them instead of parading them through the heat and humidity of DC in June to be the entertainers in a show.

The corporations who sponsored this could easily have funded family parties for them along with help and donations from the communities that surround the bases.

Let’s remember in commenting on the parade and the performance that we don’t disrespect the members. They serve and follow orders and deserve respect and gratitude for their sacrifices.

It only takes a glance at the corporate funders of this to see the corruption— Coinbase, UFC, Palantir, Oracle, Lockheed Martin, Amazon, and many more who seek payback from Trump for this birthday gift. This should’ve been something Congress approved and set a reasonable budget for- not a cesspool of corrupt politicians and their corporate benefactors.

Agreed. I put that in there to point out that the corruption could have been redirected if there was any semblance of s sense and reason. Buys political good will but accomplishes something good.

Ugh… the corporate sponsors!

The US ARMY does not want nor need corporate sponsorship.

Something about the military being nonpartisan … which the regime should understand (but doesn’t give a flying F about)

I understood the message our servicemen and servicewomen were sending on Saturday. 👊🏼

I agree but weeding out the corruption of your military-industrial complex so at least force them to do good for the people they risk.

His parade showed the world how weak a President he is. Bleachers were mostly empty.

To stage the parade shows what FRAUD he is. The people showed what was more important. Self-IN CHIEF. It is all there for everyone. Trump epitomizes Fraud, Waste and Abuse. The taxpayers monies could have been better spent in rehiring the fired veterans , support DAV, more child care on bases. Improve housing, funding USO, support Wounded Warrior, Vote vet and more. The "Commander in Chief" showed his callous, ignorant disrespect in so many ways in this sorry, dismal performance. He Just. Doesn't . Get. It.

Someone should tell him and his thugs to get the heck out of OUR HOUSE before he gets himself thrown out.

When will the corrupt, ruthless Republican "leadership" realize they need to take a hard look at the mess THEY are making, the loathing Americans have for their wreckage of a presidency, the steely determination of Americans to keep and strengthen our democracy, and the speed-tanking of support for this unwholesome, would-be patrimonial/ authoritarian/ technocratic tyranny takeover?

WE WON'T STAND FOR IT.

Trump promised us a crowd. There was NONE there! Most attending the parade were family members of the military personnel in the parade. He would have done better if it had been cancelled due to rain 😂

What a total waste of taxpayer dollars! It’s just TFG’s latest fiasco—THAT’S COSTING US YET MORE MONEY! He couldn’t organize a luncheon! No way should he be trusted with our nation’s future.

Trump is so transactional and all he knows is issuing demands and edicts but strategy and execution are beyond his limited brain capacity. This parade is the perfect example of this. Trump wants, Trump gets. But what did the members of our (OUR!) military get?

The empty stands are a picture from Trump's 2017 inauguration. Very misleading.

Bravo! Bravo!

Nicely written! You captured us - Americans and the nation, which isn’t easy. We are hard to define and not easily understood by people from other countries, at times. You got the emotional part, too. Love it!

Thanks.

We are a military family - 4 generations have sent at least one member of the family to the Military, including an active duty Navy member. We have Army, Navy & Marines within those 4 generations. I certainly respect the courage & sacrifice that people who choose to serve display.

I chose to protest yesterday!

I am a veteran from a family of veterans. I attended one of the many rally’s protesting Captain-Bone-Spurs/Kim Jung Un fascist parade in D.C! Our democracy is thriving in this mist of Trump 2.0! By the way, more protestors at the rally that attended in Woodland Hills/LA than the pathetic joke of a parade in D.C! Speaking of a pathetic joke, how about DOD Hegseth sitting next to “Taco” at that dog and pony show in D.C! If you asked Hegseth what: “posse Comitatus” means, he probably thinks it’s a new whisky drink they are serving at strip clubs! Meanwhile, after that “political theater” horse lips Kristi Noem pulled against our sitting Senator Padilla - these folks days our numbered!!

Do you think he got the hint??? NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT HIM, OR HIS STUPID PARADE!! MOST AMERICANS THINK HE IS AN UTTER DISGRACE TO THE HUMAN RACE!! THAT HE DOESN'T DESERVE THE RESPECT THAT THE PRESIDENCY NORMALLY DEMANDS.... HE ISN'T WORTHY OF THE OVAL OFFICE. HE NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED AND INCARCERATED IMMEDIATELY!!
